- CharlieX Screen Ruler is a handy little application that gives you transparent and dragging ruler for your desktop, as well show you mouse arrow coordinates and screen size templates. Useful when you need to measure size or positions of objects on your desktop. Can be helpful for web and graphic designers, software developers and anyone else who find use for it.
Main part of application are 'Ruler LaunchPad' and different on-screen measurement units.
They are:
- Screen Edge Ruler
- Dragging Ruler
- Screen size template
- Mouse coordinates
- Screen Lines (version 3.0 only)

Screen Edge Ruler
Edge ruler draws transparent pixel ruler at left and top edge of your screen. As well, through it you can access ruler menu at all times, even if is not front most application. You can change color of ruler using preset one or choosing from color picker. Units for edge ruler are in pixels.

Dragging Ruler
Dragging Ruler, as it name says, can be dragged around screen. Notes below explains main functions.
It can be dragged and aligned to object you want to measure
By clicking on botom-right arrows you can resize ruler vertically and horizontally to your needs
Choose between Pixel, Centimeter and Inch units
Ruler can be moved precisely by one pixel in each direction
Full application Menu can be accessed through pop-up list
In menu bar shows current ruler dimensions, from zero point to edge of ruler
You can hide or show Vertical ruler
It will always float above all windows, even when ruler is in background.

Screen Size templates
From menu you can open preset screen size templates. Useful for web designers when do design on large screen resolution but want quickly to see how web page will look on smaller screen size.
Example, you do web design and use 1024x768 screen resolution or G4 powerbook with wide screen. If you want to see how that will look for someone using 800x600 or 640x480 resolution just open ruler and choose from Screen Template menu desired size then resize browser window to fit inside template. You'll see exactly how your page will look at that resolution.

Mouse X and Y :
From menu you can select to show or hide mouse X and Y coordinates. It measure position from top point of mouse arrow to top and left edge of your screen. It can be useful in cases when you need to determine precise position of objects on desktop.
